Vertical Divider

Innovation and IMerely buying your customers is not innovation. It is imposing perception of worth with no intrinsic value. When the economic development strategy of local governments boils down to offering incentives and subsidies to pull in businesses it is just creating the illusion of progress.
Similarly, when companies expand customer base while wiping their margin, not only do they need deep pockets, they will likely discover these customers disappear when they start charging them. Innovation strategy must be focused on intrinsic value. Building the capabilities to remove significant limitation of customers in a way that was not possible before and to the extent no significant competitor can. Focusing on the weakest link in the chain is right when looking to improve flow of operation. When it comes to strategic growth we should focus on the strongest cord in the cable. We should look for the intrinsic “natural” anchors that will pull in customers. Once the value proposition is clear we should deal with the operational constraints standing in our way to grow the business. |
